Mark Twain School

2014. Watercolor on Paper. 16 by 20.

When the Sioux Falls School District made plans to tear down Mark Twain School, members of its Parent Teachers Association commissioned me to create this painting of the school. The PTA made prints as a remembrance of the beloved school, and the PTA sold prints to raise funds. At the PTA’s request, I finished the painting at the school while students watched. I gave them a little art tutorial. A few months later, the building was gone. Ed and Sharon Arshem purchased the original. Sharon, Sharon’s mother, her daughter Laurie, and Laurie’s children attended Mark Twain.
