For several years, the Washington Pavilion’s annual auction fundraiser (now called, “The Gala”) included a collection of small-format pieces created by local artists. The Pavilion displayed the pieces in a Pavilion gallery for several weeks before the auction. To make it even more fun, Pavilion staff asked the artists NOT to sign the front of the pieces. They were anonymous silent auction items. In 2019, I donated this piece showing a powerful train pulling into Sioux Falls, interrupting a cold and breezy winter morning. I don’t recall who purchased this painting.
