The Washington Pavilion auctioned a “blank canvas” at its Gala in June of 2023. People bid on the opportunity for me to paint a scene of their choosing. The person who won the bid asked me to paint a large Bison head. I created about a half-dozen sketches showing different compositions with various bison postures and personalities. The client chose his favorite, and this painting resulted.
