During a family trip to the Tuscany region of Italy, we visited a wonderful winery located near Montepulciano. After touring the fields, fermentation and aging areas, we enjoyed a “wine lunch” in this winery garden. The day before our visit, our son-in-law, a friend at the time, proposed marriage to our daughter back at our villa about 20km to the east. She said yes!! The beauty of the area, garden, and wine, together with our happiness for the lovely couple, prompted me to paint this scene. 15 months after our wine lunch here, our family was back in Tuscany for the wedding. This painting now belongs to our son-in-law’s parents, Rich and Lorah Jankord, Sioux Falls.
