January in the Park

McKennan Park and the surrounding homes have been sources of my art inspiration for decades. On a clear and very cold January morning after a snowfall (the temp was below zero), I walked the park in search of even more inspiration. This dramatic composition, with its juxtaposition of strong horizontal and vertical lines, captured my attention. Sioux Falls residents will recognize that row of classic homes through the trees. My sister (Lori) and her husband (Martin) own this painting.

2016. Oil on Canvas. 24 by 36 inches.
