This painting shows a Christmas Eve service, First Lutheran Church, 327 S. Dakota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD. It was one of my most challenging. The many light sources, architectural features, the people, and window reflections added complexity. Several members of my family appear in the congregation. I donated this painting to the church as part of my pledge to its capital campaign. The church hired Piper Arts to make notecards, and the church sold them to raise funds. The original is hanging in the entrance hall at First Lutheran Church.
