Ryssby Church near Longmont, CO.

An Augustana University MBA student commissioned me to create this painting of the student’s home church, built in 1882 by Swedish immigrants.

The church is beautifully situated on lovely ground with a cemetery behind the church. My reference material consisted of several online pics of this church, plus the student sent me several pics. I chose a late afternoon view, one that emphasizes shadows.

The painting was a birthday present for the student’s father. The student paid me by house and dog sitting as my wife and I spent most of January vacationing in Palm Desert, CA.

2025. Oil on canvas. 16 by 20 inches.
