Mapleton

Leaders of the Mapleton Golf Club commissioned me to create a painting of the course. During an autumn morning and again in the afternoon, I drove all over the course and took dozens of pics (thanks to the pro shop staff for loaning the cart). I settled on this late afternoon view looking north from a standpoint just left of the 18th hole fairway. I loved the flowing tree shadows and organic shapes of the sand traps. I proposed this view to my commissioner, it was accepted, and I went to work. For additional interest, I enhanced the colors of the trees, and added drama to the sky. The gorgeous building needed no enhancement. A commonly asked question is, "How long did it take to create that painting?" Counting only the painting time, this one took about 45 hours.
