I count two major art education programs that improved my art. One was my art minor from SD State University, which included 7 or 8 art courses taken between 1975 and 1977. The second was a set of three “plein air” (on location) painting workshops taught by Joe Paquet (www.joepaquet.com), taken between 2013 and 2016. I created this painting “plein air” during my third workshop with Joe Paquet. The workshop was on Madeline Island in Lake Superior. I stood on a dock while painting this scene on a cloudy summer day. I still have this painting.
